March 6, 2015 Weekend Preview LAZY!!!!

This is the first weekend in a long time that I have planned nothing but laziness.  In fact the Wee Dancer is going to The Raven Queen's house (my mom's (I find my nickname for her very funny)) for the weekend so that I can catch up on sleep and relax.

My Irish Pipe
So I think Friday night Lord Darksteel, Kalenar and myself will be spending a very easy night at home, I am expecting to drink whiskey and beer and we will probably play video games (meaning I watch them play) I am thinking of trying to video tape what we do tonight and see what comes of it. We will probably finish off the bottle of Concannon Whiskey and I think we have couple of Guinness left so we could do some car bombs, then drink some High Life and smoke our pipes and the huka.  Overall a very low key enjoyable night. I am in a bit of a melancholy mood so I hope the night helps lift my spirits.

On Saturday we will hang out most of the day doing laundry and such and then in the afternoon Kalenar and I will go play Dungeons & Dragons.  I find this very relaxing to me.  In the current campaign I play a warrior bard named Malcolm who fights with a two handed sword and plays the bagpipes.  This is something that Kalenar and myself do every week (usually on Sunday) but every once and a while a Saturday session allows for a good change of pace.  Nothing very exciting but something fun.

On Sunday I will cook the first corned beef and cabbage of the season.  This will be our staple food for the entire month and I will probably make about 6 or 7 of them over the month.

Because I am upset with the local Salt Lake music scene I am not going to recommend a show for this week.

Eatery of the Week:
This is new in our area and we want to try it

Booze of the Week:
Irish Car Bomb
1/2 Pint of Guinness Stout
1/2 oz Irish Whiskey & 1/2 oz Irish Cream in a shot glass

Drop the shot glass into the Guinness and slam it.

Rethinking the Format and Musings

I have given myself a week to rethink my ideas on how I should move forward with the goals of this blog.  I like the idea of having a weekly posting schedule but I am finding that the planning of this is increasingly difficult with the demands of job, health and family.  I also am finding that the local Salt Lake City bands are, as a whole, unorganized and think like musicians and are not that reliable.  I have asked people for interviews and have not received any responses.  As with all things in life I believe evolution needs to move the process along so I am going to evolve this blog.  Single fatherhood has made it very hard to have weekly events.  The Wee Dancer loves being involved with the festivals but when we go to bars it is hard to find  a sitter and such so I am going to cut the events down to one major event and maybe a minor event or restaurant depending on how hectic life is.  I will also be writing weekly about the music I am listening to and hopefully some bands will respond when I send out requests.  It has been a humbling 2 weeks for me, I have learned that developing a window into my life for entertainment value is a lot more involved than just getting the ideas and writing about them.  I have always been an idea person and implementation has never been my strong suit.  So I am taking it as a challenge to make sure I implement the vision I want and make that aspect of my life as strong as the idea side.

Enough of the musings, this weekend was the Vali Festival in which we partook of wine and cheese.  SO MUCH WINE!!!!  We easily had 12 bottles for 8 people.  Myself, Kalenar, Bomba, Lord Darksteel, Vladimyr (new spelling), Morgan, Madame Gnarly and her guest (who is an animal sage and if she comes more we will find an appropriate name for her) and lastly the Wee Dancer were all in attendance.  We drank and ate cheese and watched Big Hero 6 and we had a wonderful time together. Enjoy the pictures of the wines and the cheeses.  Lastly a big shout out to the  Matrin Weyrich Allegro Moscato for being AMAZING!
